AFRL, Harvard researchers invent new method of hybrid 3-D printing for flexible electronics
A technique called Hybrid 3-D Printing, developed by AFRL researchers in collaboration with the Wyss Institute at Harvard University, uses additive manufacturing to integrate soft, conductive inks with material substrates to create stretchable electronic devices. AFRL researchers ‘twist’ yarns for electrical energy, power
Scientists at the Air Force Research Laboratory are exploring the use of carbon nanotube-based twistron yarns for energy generation. This twistron yarn image, captured by x-Ray tomography, is a 3-D rendering of the coiled nanotube fibers and provides information on the structures, defects and interfaces internal to the fibers at the nanoscale.
